Abstract:Th17 cells play important roles in autoimmune diseases, infectious disease and tumor et al. IL-17 is a signature cytokine secreted by Th17 cells. While high level of IL-17 has frequently been observed in patients of multiple sclerosis(MS) and its experimental models, the actual target of IL-17 in these context is still elusive. By using conditional knockout mice of Act1, an adaptor protein of IL-17 signaling, we found that Act1 mediates IL-17-induced EAE pathogenesis selectively in NG2+ glial cells, thus provide a specific target for MS therapy.
