报告人简介: 

何苗壮 (Mitchell Ho, Phd),美国医学与生物工程院院士,华东师范大学生物系85级校友。 现任美国国立卫生研究院国家癌症研究所终身高级研究员,美国肿瘤研究所抗体治疗研究室主任。

Prof. Ho is an international renowned expert in antibody engineering and cancer immunotherapy. He is Senior Investigator, Deputy Chief of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, and Director of NCI Antibody Engineering Program at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH). He is Chair of the Department of Biochemistry for the FAES Graduate School at the NIH. He received a B.S. from East China Normal University and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was elected to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows, the Board of Directors for the Antibody Society, the Board of Directors for Chinese Antibody Society, and the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES). Dr. Ho received many awards including Asian & Pacific Islander American Organization Scientific Achievement Award, Dr. Francisco S. Sy Award for Excellence in Mentorship at HHS, NIH Deputy Director for Intramural Research Innovation Award, and NCI Director’s Innovation Award. He also serves as the Editor-in-Chief for Antibody Therapeutics (Oxford University Press).


报告内容简介:

Prof. Ho has pioneered innovative antibody engineering-based immunotherapeutic strategies, including the development of CAR-T cells for treating solid tumors. The CAR-T cells created in the Ho laboratory targeting GPC3 are being tested for treating liver cancer in a NIH clinical trial. In this talk, he will discuss recent work on the development of GPC2 and GPC1 as new cancer targets and engineering of CAR-T cells for treating childhood cancer and pancreatic cancer. He will also discuss camel VHH nanobodies as a new tool to advance drug discovery and improve the efficacy of CAR-T cells.
