Jan Traas教授关注顶端分生组织的功能,尤其是花形态发生。他的研究既涉及模型植物(主要是拟南芥)也涉及农学相关的植物。他目前正在整理一套广泛的方法,包括分子遗传学、细胞生物学、生物物理学和计算模型。他的团队是最早建立实时成像的团队之一。他对了解机械和生物化学如何影响植物发育过程中产生特定形态做出重大贡献。
报告摘要:The shoot apical meristem (SAM) continuously generates leaves, flowers, and branches in higher plants. In the past decades, many components of the gene regulatory networks in the SAM have been identified. However, little is known about the spatiotemporal coordination between gene expression patterns and growth at cellular resolution. This lack of understanding is mainly due to the lack of comprehensive quantification of organ wide cell properties over time with regards to the underlying molecular networks. We address this problem in early flower development of Arabidopsis thaliana using high resolution confocal time lapse imaging, combined with genetic and biophysical approaches. Hereby we are focusing on the cell wall, which plays a central role in the control of growth rates and growth directions.
